[ALIEN] Star Dust

[Alien] Star Dust: Signal to Noise explores the dust from meteorites through sound, augmented reality (AR), online meditation, and installation.

Commissioned by the Museum of Natural History in Vienna, [Alien] Star Dust: signal to noise is an immersive installation integrating AR and 3D prints, projections, layered sound, online meditations, and an artist book. Centered on seven meteorites—each that fell on a different continent and selected from the museum’s collection—the work traces their transformation as they explode through Earth’s atmosphere, fusing with natural and anthropogenic dust: pollution, microplastics, and radioactive particles. Audiences are reminded that about 100 tons of stardust fall to Earth each day, merging with the debris of our own making. The layered soundscape, drawn from scientific data and environmental recordings, amplifies this cosmic exchange. Revealing how celestial and human-made matter intertwine, the work invites reflection on our shared material origins. Dust knows no borders—it obscures, connects, and reminds us of our collective responsibility as planetary citizens. NTU Global Digital Art prize, Singapore, 2022.
